Engineered block and natural stacked-stone walls that tame a slope, stop erosion, and turn unusable grade into flat, beautiful, livable yard, built with the drainage and reinforcement that keep them standing for decades.
A retaining wall does real structural work, so we build it like it matters: a compacted base, proper backfill and drainage gravel, geogrid reinforcement where the height calls for it, and a finish, block or natural stone, that fits your home.
Done right, it does more than hold back soil. It reclaims a sloped yard, creates terraces for planting or play, and keeps water moving where it should.
Stone Hollow Landscaping
Turn an unusable hill into flat, terraced space you can actually use.
Gravel, fabric, and weeps so water never builds up behind the wall.
Base, backfill, and geogrid sized to the height and load of your wall.
It depends on height and location. Many cities require a permit and engineering for walls over a certain height, often around four feet. We're familiar with local requirements and will let you know what your project needs.
Engineered block is consistent, cost-effective, and excellent for taller structural walls. Natural stone has a timeless, organic look that's beautiful for garden and accent walls.
Quite tall, when built correctly. Taller walls need engineering, geogrid reinforcement, and sometimes tiering. We design every wall to safely handle the height and soil load it's holding back.
The two biggest causes of failure are poor drainage and a weak base, so that's where we focus. Compacted footing, drainage gravel, filter fabric, and reinforcement mean water and pressure never push your wall out of line.
